Bespoke Kitchens

A Chester Thomas kitchen begins with the room you already have: its light, its awkward corners, the way you move through it in the morning. Every cabinet is drawn for that room and built in our Derbyshire workshop, so the finished kitchen sits properly against walls that are rarely square.

We take the project from first measured survey through design, manufacture and installation, with one point of contact throughout. You will know who is coming, what is happening next, and how the details are being resolved.

What the service includes

01

Measured design

Full survey and drawings showing cabinet heights, appliance positions, sightlines and how each run of furniture meets the walls, floor and ceiling.

02

Built-to-measure cabinetry

Base units, tall runs, islands and pantries built to the millimetre rather than adapted from stock sizes, with internal fittings arranged around what you store.

03

Finishes and ironmongery

Hand-painted or timber finishes, worktop selection and handle detailing chosen together so the kitchen reads as one considered piece.

04

Installation

Fitted by the team who built it, with scribing, panelling and final adjustment carried out on site.

How the project runs

  1. 01

    Consultation

We visit the space or meet at the workshop, talk through how the room needs to work, and agree a realistic budget before any drawings are issued.

  2. 02

    Design

Measured drawings show exactly what is being built: cabinet sizes, storage layout, sightlines and how the furniture meets the building.

  3. 03

    Materials & Finishes

Timbers, paint colours, worktops and ironmongery are sampled and agreed, so nothing is decided from a photograph alone.

  4. 04

    Manufacture

Everything is built in our Derbyshire workshop by the people who will install it, which keeps the detailing and the quality consistent.

  5. 05

    Installation

We fit, scribe and adjust on site, protect the rest of the house while we work, and walk the finished furniture through with you.

Bespoke Kitchens — common questions

How long does a bespoke kitchen take?
Design usually takes a few weeks depending on how quickly decisions are made, followed by manufacture in our workshop and installation. We give you a realistic programme in writing before anything is ordered.
Do you supply appliances and worktops?
We can specify and coordinate worktops, sinks, taps and appliances alongside the cabinetry, drawing on suppliers we trust and building the units to their exact dimensions. Equally, if you have already chosen appliances or a particular worktop, we will design around those items, confirming sizes and clearances during survey so the cabinetry is built to suit rather than adjusted on site.
Can you work with our architect or builder?
We regularly work alongside architects, interior designers and main contractors, issuing drawings and service requirements in whatever format suits their programme. This includes confirming electrical, plumbing and ventilation positions ahead of first fix, and adjusting our own manufacture and installation dates around the wider build so the kitchen arrives at the right point in the project.
