Bespoke Home Offices & Studies

A study has to hold equipment, paperwork, books and cables and still be somewhere you want to sit for eight hours. That balance comes from planning the desk depth, the shelf heights and the cable routes properly.

We build studies for spare rooms, garden rooms, landings and alcoves, from a single desk run to a fully panelled library.

What the service includes

01

Desk and worktop

Desk height, depth and knee space set out for comfortable use, with monitor and screen positions considered.

02

Shelving and library walls

Adjustable or fixed shelving sized to your books and objects, with lighting where it helps.

03

Cable management

Grommets, cable trays and concealed sockets so the desk stays clear.

04

Storage

Filing, printer housing and closed cupboards for the equipment that should not be on display.

  • Open oak display unit with adjustable timber and glass shelving, a built-in desk shelf and concealed vertical LED strips

    Study Furniture

Fitted desks, shelving and panelling designed as one composition, not a collection of furniture.

  • Detail of handleless painted drawers with solid oak interiors and a warm LED-lit oak cabinet above

    Home Office Storage

Cupboards, drawers and equipment housings sized to what you actually need to store, not a stock unit.

  • Home Office Desks

A desk built to your posture, your screens and the cabling behind them, not a standard blank.

  • Office Cabinetry

Closed storage sized to your files, stationery and equipment, so the desk can close down at the end of the day.

  • Study Bookcases

Shelving proportioned to reference books and working papers, planned around the desk rather than instead of it.

  • Desk Wall Units

Desk, shelving and closed storage built as a single integrated wall, rather than separate pieces sharing a room.

Materials & finishes

Finishes are chosen with you and sampled before anything is built, so the colour, grain and hardware are agreed while the design is still on paper.

  • Oak, walnut and ash
  • Hand-painted panelled joinery
  • Leather and linoleum desk tops
  • Brass shelf detailing
  • Concealed power and data modules

How the project runs

  1. 01

    Consultation

We visit the space or meet at the workshop, talk through how the room needs to work, and agree a realistic budget before any drawings are issued.

  2. 02

    Design

Measured drawings show exactly what is being built: cabinet sizes, storage layout, sightlines and how the furniture meets the building.

  3. 03

    Materials & Finishes

Timbers, paint colours, worktops and ironmongery are sampled and agreed, so nothing is decided from a photograph alone.

  4. 04

    Manufacture

Everything is built in our Derbyshire workshop by the people who will install it, which keeps the detailing and the quality consistent.

  5. 05

    Installation

We fit, scribe and adjust on site, protect the rest of the house while we work, and walk the finished furniture through with you.

Home Offices & Studies — common questions

Can you build a study into an alcove or landing?
Awkward alcoves and landings often make the best studies once furniture is built specifically for them, since a fitted desk and shelving can use every available inch in a way that off-the-shelf furniture cannot. We measure the space carefully and plan desk depth, knee room and shelving so a compact area still functions properly for a full working day.
Can the desk be moved later?
Fitted furniture is built to stay in place, following the walls and proportions of the room it was designed for, but we can design a desk element that is demountable if you expect to change the room's use later. This is worth raising during the initial consultation, as it affects how the desk is fixed and how the surrounding shelving is detailed.
